Helping children speak and communicate

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is a specialised form of treatment that aims to enhance an individual's communication abilities. It involves collaborating with a certified Speech and Language Therapist who can identify and support speech and language difficulties. The therapy may encompass a range of exercises and techniques to improve speech clarity, language comprehension, and social communication skills. The ultimate objective of speech therapy is to enable individuals to communicate effectively and confidently in their daily lives.

How We Can Help

We understand that for children, learning happens best when it’s fun. Our experienced Speech and Language Therapists are trained to assess and develop customised therapy plans based on each unique child’s needs and strengths, using play-based techniques to ensure therapy feels like an adventure rather than a chore.

For nearly a decade, our multidisciplinary team has supported children with:

  • Delayed or Disordered language development

  • Speech Difficulties – Articulation / Phonology

  • Specific Language Impairment (SLI)

  • Dyslexia and other learning difficulties

  • Literacy and Poor Phonological Awareness

  • Stuttering

  • Social communication difficulties

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Feeding difficulties / picky eating

Our evidence-based approach and engaging therapy style have resulted in positive therapeutic outcomes, helping children improve in both non-verbal and verbal communication skills.

What to Expect

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Get in touch with us for a complimentary discovery call or WhatsApp discussion. This allows our team to understand your primary concerns, discuss your child’s current communication profile, and provide immediate guidance on the best next steps to take.

Step 2: Assessment

For children below three, we utilise play-based, clinical observations and developmental tools to evaluate communication skills naturally. For children aged three and above, we use standardised, diagnostic tests that allow us to specifically identify your child’s areas of strengths and weaknesses.

Each assessment lasts between 1 – 1.5 hours and are priced at the same hourly rate as a regular therapy session. Following the evaluation, your therapist will discuss the findings with you and develop a tailored therapy plan for your child, if needed.

Step 3: Speech Therapy

Based on the assessment, we will recommend an appropriate therapy schedule (e.g. weekly, fortnightly or on a consultative monitoring basis). Time slots are reserved for each child, and regular attendance is encouraged for optimal communication outcomes. Our sessions are dynamic and child-led; we flexibly adapt our pace and activities to match your child’s energy, mood, and interests on any given day. At the end of each session, you will receive practical, low-stress take-home activities to accelerate your child’s progress in their natural environment.

Step 4: Graduation

Our ultimate goal is to empower your child to communicate confidently without us. When your child consistently meets their customised milestones, we celebrate their graduation from therapy! We provide a smooth transition plan, and our team is always right here should you need any check-ins or guidance down the road.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I know if my child needs speech and language therapy?

Red flags include limited use of gestures or eye contact by 12 months, few words or unintelligible speech by 3 years old, regression in communication skills, or underdeveloped play skills. If your child’s paediatrician or schoolteacher has raised concerns, it is always best to schedule a professional speech assessment.

At what age should my child begin speech therapy?

Speech therapy can begin as early as 12 to 18 months if a child is missing critical pre-linguistic milestones, such as making eye contact, pointing, or responding to their name. Because a child's brain develops most rapidly in the early years, you do not need to "wait and see" or delay support until they reach preschool age. If you or a paediatrician notice any communication gaps, starting early intervention as soon as possible yields the most impactful and lasting results.

Does excessive screen time cause speech delays or autism?

Screen time does not cause Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which is a distinct neurodevelopmental condition. However, a study by the National University Hospital (NUH) in March 2026 highlights that prolonged screen use can cause speech delays and behaviours that mimic autism, largely because digital devices replace the real-world, "back-and-forth" interactions toddlers need to develop language. We fully understand the daily realities and pressures parents face; if you are concerned about your child's screen habits or communication milestones, our play-based therapy is designed to build those crucial social connection skills in a fun, pressure-free environment.

Does bilingualism cause speech delays?

No, bilingualism does not cause speech delays. While a bilingual child’s vocabulary is split between two languages, their total combined vocabulary is typically comparable to that of a monolingual child of the same age. If a child does experience a speech or language delay, it will manifest in both languages and is typically driven by an underlying developmental factor rather than the exposure to multiple languages.

How long does each speech therapy session last?

Each speech therapy session typically lasts for 1 hour.

Can I observe or sit in during my child’s speech therapy session?

Yes, we encourage parents and caregivers to participate in sessions, as this helps you pick up practical strategies and tips to carry over into home practice. However, if your child engages or focuses better independently, you are welcome to comfortably view the session via our monitor screen outside the therapy room.

What makes your therapy different?

We combine advanced clinical expertise with a neuro-affirming, child-led philosophy. Rather than sticking to a single method, our therapists are certified in diverse, evidence-based frameworks, including Hanen, DIR Floortime, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), allowing us to design a highly customised, holistic programme for your child. By blending structured techniques with functional, play-based sessions, we ensure therapy feels like a fun, natural part of your child's routine.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

Each child is unique and the length of time a child spends in therapy depends on many variables, including (i) the nature and severity of the challenge, (ii) the age at which the child begins intervention, and (iii) the frequency of sessions and consistency in practice.
